PRIVATE EVENT BOOKINGS

We currently host private events such as Wedding Ceremonies, Engagements/Proposals, and Memorial Services. We are unable to accommodate events that include food, drinks, or games (e.g., birthdays, baby showers) or require extensive setups. PRIVATE EVENT LOCATIONS INSIDE THE GARDEN

Private events at Shinzen Garden are limited to 100 guests. The garden features a variety of curated scenes with architectural and sculptural elements, providing a beautiful backdrop for your special event. Several areas are available, with the final choice dependent on logistics. For events with more than 100 guests, please contact us.

Events are scheduled during normal garden visiting hours. Our booking calendar operates on a “first-come, first-served” basis, and we book only ONE EVENT per date/time. Note that other patrons may be present in the garden during your event.

HOW TO REQUEST A PRIVATE EVENT

STEP 1: First check the online calendar in the “Choose Appointment/Private Events” section to see if your desired date and time are available. Events are booked on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Please do not book your event until after completing a scheduled sitewalk with our staff.

STEP 2: Schedule a garden sitewalk HERE, and we will meet you at the garden to discuss event options, since our offices are located off-site. We are available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM, or you can call about event questions at 559.840.1264.

STEP 3: After completing the garden sitewalk, return to this page and book your event on the “PRIVATE EVENTS” appointment calendar. Include a minimum $150 non-refundable deposit to guarantee your date/time. We do not double-book events. Dates/times that do NOT appear in the calendar are already booked. The Garden will be in a reasonably clean state, considering its natural outdoor setting. You are responsible for leaving the Shinzen Garden in the same condition as found and ensuring the safety and well-being of your guests. Photos may be used to assess any additional cleaning fees if necessary.

STEP 4: Complete and submit the following three documents prior to having your event approved:

• • Download, complete, and return our Rental Agreement
  • Including the City of Fresno’s “Hold Harmless & Insurance Requirement” form.
  • Submit a required One Day Insurance “Rider” Policy as specified in the City of Fresno’s “Hold Harmless & Insurance Requirement.” You can use your own insurance provider or visit: www.ewedinsurance.com

STEP 5: If hiring a professional photographer, please apply for a photo permit HERE. A photo permit is not required if family or friends are taking photos during your event.
