Strolling along the pathways of the Autumn Garden, you are once again reminded of the hide and reveal design technique. In the fall, the glorious red and gold colors of the maples and pistache trees capture your attention. You will note that they often drape over the lake, reflecting their colors across the water, delighting the view for those in the Summer Garden, and calling them on. Between the pathways, a rock formation suggests the flow of water to enrich and enhance the plantings and create a sense of movement in the still and quite place.
Observe the Autumn Tempo dai, the repeat of the borrowed view of Woodward Lake and how it provides another palette for the Garden. In other seasons than Autumn, you will see the blooms of lilies, watsonia, and cherry blossoms as look across to the spring and summer walkways.
